Access Improvements Completed
IOW Ramblers and our Rights of Way department were successful in obtaining funds to improve footpaths in West Wight.
The coastal path from Alum Bay to the Needles was badly eroded. New steps were installed and the path restored and levelled. The path from the chalk pit car park near the Highdown Inn to the Tennyson monument was also improved, adding steps and handrailing on the steep path.
West Wight landscape partnership agreed the funding of £11474. IOW Ramblers and National Trust each gave £1000. The Council also made a contribution to this work.
The path was opened by Sue Poston, Chair of West Wight Landscape Partnership on 4th April 2012.
