Ramblers

Visits

13th May 2010 a walk was held with the  Disabled Ramblers walking group who were visiting the Island for a few days.  This group uses off road motorised scooters which can traverse steep hills and difficult path conditions.

David Howarth, Area Chairman of Isle of Wight Ramblers accompanied the group over Mottistone Down and through the steep woods leading to Mottistone Manor.  The group returned via the Longstone and then ascended Limmerstone Down.  David said " I was impressed by the determination of this group who thoroughly enjoy rambling in the countryside.  The organisation of these rambles has to be well thought through.  The walks are only limited by restrictions such as stiles.  We must campaign to replace stiles with appropriate gates."
